Hey, beautiful people! Can I just say how much I love seeing bright colors on dark skin women?! I don’t know what it is about seeing bright colors on melanin but man it is a beautiful sight to see! A few of my favorite black bloggers have been doing this for a while. Y’all don’t understand how excited I get when I see their beautiful outfits on their melaninated skin. As a dark skin woman myself, I was afraid to find bright colors to wear. I wasn’t sure how it would look on me and I didn’t want to “stand out” in a negative way. In the media, we’re so used to seeing fair skin tones rocking bright and colorful attires. There’s nothing wrong with that at all but the lack of representation for us chocolate ladies were slim to none.
From that, I am making an effort to break the stereotype and showcase how dark skin women can rock bright and colorful attires as well! Like I said, there are a few that have been doing this for a while such as SimplyCyn, StylePantry, and a few others. I want to join the fun and show how good we look in something outside of our comfort zone. It certainly takes a lot of confidence to wear something so bold. But that’s the beauty of it, YOU make it work for YOU. That’s the point that I would love to bring forth to the light.
I’ve always been into fashion but lacked confidence in wearing certain things due to my insecurities. Through self-love and self-evaluation, I realized that I can do and wear anything that I put my mind to. As long as I’m confident in myself and how I view myself internally and externally, that is all that matters! Now, I love rocking anything that fits my body type and makes me feel good and look good. After having two kiddos, my body just isn’t the same but that’s not going to stop me from being the MILF that I am LOL! I love finding items that fit my mom body and that makes me look and feel confident despite these changes.
That is why I created the #TheCCWStyle on Instagram. The purpose behind it is to showcase postpartum fashion as well as showcase how my melanin babes can rock anything, no matter how bright or dark it is. I believe our wardrobe is a form of expression and should be expressed daily to the world. I truly enjoy inspiring my audience through my love for fashion and I love how you all have been enjoying it. From this point on, you will see a variety of style posts to encourage you to think and dress outside of the box. Stop being afraid to be different and look different. You were born to make a statement in this world so let your outfit do the talking.
