Hello there beautiful people out there! I can’t believe Winter Storm Jonas hit us the way he did! At first I didn’t believe the Meteorologists but they were not kidding when they say he was going to bring it! We had 30 inches of snow to touch down in the DC/Baltimore area and it has been challenging the past couple of days. Many people haven’t been able to go to work or school because the roads, even their neighborhood roads are horrible and haven’t been cleaned by the Snow Plow trucks.
To make the best out of this horrid situation and to satisfy our sweet craving since we were unable to go to the store, we decided to make our own ice cream using snow! Instead of making ice cream using the rock salt method, we used snow right from our front yard and made magic happen. I used some of the snow from my car because I didn’t want to get snow off the ground where my hubster shoveled for sanitary reasons.
These are the ingredients that I used:
(4) Domino Sugar Packets
1/4 tsp of Pure Vanilla Extract
1 cup of Organic Whole Milk
Sprinkles
And of course, the main ingredient..SNOW!!
You are more than welcome to add or use as much or little to your liking but make sure you don’t use too much milk. Doing so will result in making the snow cream too liquidy. If too much milk is used, add more snow to your bowl to form it into the ice cream texture you are looking for. I added 1/4 tsp of Vanilla Extract and 4 packs of sugar in it to sweeten it up a bit!
After a few stir, Voila!! Homemade Snow Ice Cream Treat!! I was happy that it came out perfect on the first try (well lets say I had to had another 1/2 cup of snow lol.)
To jazz it up a little bit more, I added some sprinkles to it and my baby girl loved it! 🙂
P.S. Make sure you eat it immediately because it will start to melt fast!
These treats were easy and fast to make so if you are looking for a fun and yummy activity to do with your children during the snow days, I guaranteed this is one that everyone will enjoy! Let me know if you have tried this and what did you add to yours! 🙂
