Hey, beautiful people! We are back from our Disney Cruise and we had such an amazing time. The service on the ship was amazing. The food was amazing. The weather was amazing and our daughter loved it! My husband did a great job planning and organizing this for us. Thank you, Disney Cruise Line, for starting our year exciting and magical!
We started our trip by flying to Houston, Texas the day before. This was our first time in Houston and it was absolutely beautiful. I’ve always wanted to go to Houston, well Texas overall so I’m glad we got the chance to see it. We also got to tour Lakewood Church. That is the church Joel Osteen preaches at and he is my all-time favorite preacher.
We rented a car in Houston because we were sailing out of Galveston, TX. Galveston is one of Disney Cruise Line’s ports where they cruise from to sail into the Caribbean Sea. A few downfalls about sailing out of Galveston, TX is 1) there aren’t any car rentals (except Enterprise which is on the island) to get down there from the airport. So if you rent a car from Hobby airport, you’ll have to drive 45 minutes (depending on traffic) down, turn around and go back to Houston to return it then take a shuttle back to Galveston.
My husband did that because for a shuttle ride to transport us and our daughter from the airport cost more than renting a car. So we said we were going to rent a car, drive around Houston, drop off our stuff at the hotel, let him drive back to Hobby airport then take the shuttle back down. It seems like a lot but it actually worked out in the end.
The next day, our cab came and picked us up from the hotel and took us to the port. He was so friendly and also a Patriots fan so you know he was talking junk to Matty lol. Once we got dropped off, we entered and the workers greeted us and lead us to through the checkpoint and then registration. Remember, you aren’t allowed to carry open drink beverages on board so don’t open your drinks before boarding or you will have to throw it away. The good thing about Disney Cruise Lines is they allow you to take on board beer and wine. It must be closed and you’re allowed to bring a 6-pack and a bottle of wine. We didn’t take any nor did we drink on while on the cruise but for anyone who was wondering, there is your answer!
The registration process was smooth and easy for us. All we had to do was show our passports, documentations, answer a few questions, take a pictures for our cards and that was it. We went ahead and did the Youth activity registration downstairs instead of on the ship just because we were already downstairs. That process took at least 45 minutes so that wasn’t too bad.
Entering the boat, the crew members greeted us! They asked for our last name and announced it on the intercom. Then, we walked around while our room was still getting ready. Our hostess Maricris was so sweet and kind. She remembered our names, she asked us questions just to make sure she knew what we needed and more. If you ever sail on the Disney Wonder ship and she is your hostess, you are in for a treat.
It’s so much to talk about but our first day was so much fun and such a great experience. I will post more about our experience on a Disney Cruise. Everything from the food, the hacks that we learned and that could be beneficial for you. Also, I can’t wait to share our experience in Cozumel, Mexico, Jamaica and Puerto Rico.
