Hey y’all, heyyy! Show of hands of how many people out there are still committed to their fitness goals? If you are, that’s amazing! If not, it is okay! Start soon or get back up and keep going! Today, I want to share briefly about my fitness journey so far especially with the System 20 plan! I mentioned it on Instagram briefly last week. I didn’t want to say tooooo much because I didn’t want to jinx myself. I’ve tried so many diet trends and such and didn’t stick through with it. This year I want to commit to something that works but also challenging and this is one of those things.
Before the New Year arrived, I stumbled upon an article from Dr. Oz sharing the System 20 that he has been promoting for a while. After reading it and researching testimonies about it, I told my husband about it. He broke it down to me and from there, it sounded like something that would work for both of us. I didn’t want to try a health plan that I wouldn’t commit to. Or also would do more harm to my body than good. After reading the plan in its entirety, we decided that we would give it a try!
We started our journey by fasting and juicing for a couple of days at the beginning of January.
Backstory: Since October 2019, we haven’t been eating right or working out consistently if I can be real. With the birthdays, guests coming in town, trying new food places, Holidays, and travels that happened in that timeframe, we were eating whatever, wherever and it started to show on our bodies, faces, and stools. We even felt it internally as well.
After taking a good look in the mirror at ourselves, we knew it was time to make serious changes. We took photos of ourselves and posted them in our bathroom. Now, we are committing to seeing and making changes over the next couple of months. My husband is 40 now. He wants to be in the best shape of his life. We decided that we’re going to get serious, stick with the System 20 (which is pretty much Intermittent Fasting) and get our ish together! You can read more about it HERE!
So far, I can say that it is going well! With the System 20, it suggests that your window to eat should be 11am-7pm. That means you should eat two meals (brunch/lunch, and dinner) and cut back on certain foods. What has been working for me lately is 10am-6pm. Since I work from home, I would usually have my iced coffee first then eat a late breakfast on a non-hungry morning. Before when I was starving, I would eat around 8am then eat lunch around 11-11:30am.
NOW, with the System 20, I’m not as hungry as I used to be in the mornings. Sometimes, I forget to eat because I’m just not hungry. For dinner, My husband and I stop eating at 6pm. That gives our bodies time to digest and breakdown our food before going to bed at 9pm. Then, of course, we throw in a workout to tone up our bodies.
With those small changes while on the System 20 plan, we have noticed a difference not only in our weight but also in our actions. We are disciplined and attentive to the things we are eating and drinking. Also, our top priority is making sure that we stick with our eating window. Eating the recommended foods that he suggests, incorporating workouts, juicing and tons of water in our routine, we are certainly on our way to a better lifestyle.
This journey hasn’t been perfect I’ll admit. We’ve made a few mistakes. We have had a FEW (maybe 1 or 2) days when we have had pizza and cupcakes. We pretty much had a cheat moment. Trust me, we felt the negative effects of it. After that, we said alright, we can’t have many cheat moments if we’re going to be good! So cheers to fewer cheat days!
As stated, I wanted to share briefly what we’ve doing and how it has been working so far. I want us to commit to this for the next couple of weeks or so. After that, we will do an update on YouTube sharing our experience in-depth and all of that good stuff! I want to make sure that we commit and stay consistent. Also, I want to share our honest opinion about this journey and bring receipts. I hope that this will at least inspire you to look into this program (or Intermittent Fasting) and try it out. We’re liking it so far and I’m sure that you will too. Let me know what your workout plan is and how it is going for you. Cheers to a healthy 2020 and beyond!
