Hey, y’all! I hope everything has been going well with you! Today, I want to share how potty training our baby boy has been going so far. I mentioned to you all briefly on Instagram how we were planning, tips, and advice that people have mentioned to us and more. But today, I want to share how it has been going so far and what we need to work on. I will say this that I can tell that it is going to be a journey for us LOL!
Potty Necessities We Have Been Using
At first, we were thinking about getting Baby Boy an actual potty that he can use on his own. To be honest, I’m still thinking about it. The only thing I remember when we had one for Maddie and cleaning the poop out of there was YUCK OMG! But she loved it and nailed the potty training down with it. I will link a few that I would love to get for him down below.

For test run purposes, we have been using a toilet seat cover like this one HERE specifically designed for little ones. Whenever he has to go, we put the lid on the toilet seat and he sits on there like a big boy. Using this has been helpful because eventually as he gets bigger, he’s going to use his own toilet. So this has been very helpful to get him to get comfortable with the toilet.
As far as undies go, we have and are currently still using Pampers Cruisers. We love Pampers everything so we plan on using Pampers on this potty training journey as well. We like the cruisers for him because it’s super comfortable and is perfect for his little busy butt. Recently, we started using Cruisers 360. We love it because he is able to pull it up and down as if it were “undies”. This has been very helpful and has been getting the hang of it very quickly. Next, we’re going to buy the EasyUps! Once he gets that phase down pack, then it’s on to his official big boy undies! Ahhhh that’ll be here before we know it!

Pros and Cons So Far
Pros: He has been going on his own. There have been a few times that I didn’t ask him if he had to go. He went into the bathroom and did his thang! I actually shed a few tears because he did it on his own and we didn’t have to assist him. I literally felt like a proud mom. One he is able to do this on his own daily, that would be a #MomWin in my book!
It’s not as challenging as I thought. It is said that potty training a boy is more challenging than a girl. To be honest, potty training Maddie was a piece of cake. She got the hang of it quickly and was using the bathroom on her own shortly after. But with Tristan, I kind of feel like it will be the same. He understands what to do and gets the gist of it. We’re still in the beginning phase of this journey but I have confidence in my boy that he’ll nail it as well.
He loves our potty celebratory song. The few times that he has gone, we sung a little song to him. He starts dancing and shaking his butt. It’s seriously the cutest thing ever.
Cons: He’s not going on the toilet all of the time. Part of it is my fault because I don’t have him on a set schedule just yet. With everything going on in the world, it has been an emotional rollercoaster and my mind has been all over the place. But I am determined to guide my baby boy through this. I am working on a schedule as well speak since I will have the kids home all day with me through the summer. This is the perfect time to get this schedule in order since we’ll be home so there’s no excuse.
He doesn’t want to poop in the potty. I’m not sure if he’s afraid to poop while on the toilet or he doesn’t know how to. When he tells us (he either says or taps his diaper) we will put him on the toilet but nothing would come out. He’ll let out little toots here and there but nothing else. So that is something we are working on. It’ll be nice to eliminate poopy diapers out of our lives lol!
Like I said, I wanted to briefly share what has been going on on this journey so far. We are still in the beginning stages and are trying to get this show on the road. To be honest, as stressful as I know this could be, I’m excited to see how it is going to go this year. My baby is so smart and I know he’s going to do well with this. We have to do our part to guide him and support him along the way.
I will check back in with you all in the upcoming weeks to share his progress and if we incorporated anything new into his routine. I plan to also vlog and document this journey on my YouTube channel. Make sure to subscribe and tune in for that. If you all have any more tips or advice or if we’re doing something wrong, let me know down below!
