Hello, beautiful people! I want to share our experience staying at Montana De Fuego in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. That was the resort we stayed at during our stay in Costa Rica. I found this place on Groupon because they had a really good special going on. The price for two nights was excellent. Not to mention, it came with two daily activities such as Horseback Riding in the Arenal River or by the Volcano, Canopying, and etc. This was my husband and I’s both times staying in a rainforest so we thought it would be a great idea to try something different out of our comfort zone.
Before I booked any hotel or resort, it is mandatory that I check out the place on sites like TripAdvisor, Booking.com, and Google as well. I like to see the different reviews, traveler photos and etc. Not saying the manager pictures aren’t helpful, but I need to see accurate and recent photos to help me decide. The photos online pertaining to Montana De Fuego were pretty decent. Some pictures of some of the bungalows showed a few of them looking a little out of date. Some people even stated they noticed ants on the bed.
We stayed in one of their Superior bungalows and they were okay. I wasn’t overly impressed since our room was a little out of date as well. But we made the best of it and enjoyed the view and scenery nonetheless. We did see maybe two or three ants on the other bed so we didn’t sleep on that one.
Other than the rooms being outdated, the outdoors on this resort was beautiful. They have three hot spring pools, an outdoor jacuzzi, pool bar, volcanic mud, spa, and a beautiful view of the Arenal Volcano.
The service was excellent. We didn’t have any issues with any of the workers. I did ask for an iron because we didn’t have one in the room. I received it the next day so I didn’t bother using it. That was my only concern but other than the workers were very friendly and spoke/understood English very well.
As stated, our Groupon special included a daily activity. You have three choices 1) Horseback Riding in the Arenal River, Horseback Riding beside the Arenal Volcano, or Canopying (ziplining). We decided to do the horseback riding in the river and zip lining. It was soooo much fun and our guides were fun and hilarious. If you do decide to do the horseback riding in the river, make sure that you go with Alex. It was a pleasure hanging with him. Our experience was a great one because of him!
If you decide to go to Costa Rica and you are looking for the rainforest experience, I recommend staying at Montana De Fuego. Not saying it is the best, but the outdoor experience, the food, and the wifi gets an A+ in my book. Like I told my husband, if they renovate the rooms, that place would be a 4.5 star in my book. So check them out the next time you’re in Costa Rica! Of course, I vlogged our experience on my channel so check it out by clicking HERE and HERE to see a live tour of the place and our experience!
