Hey y’all, heyyy! The kids and I will be traveling real soon. I’m not going to lie I’m quite nervous. Not because I’ll be traveling with my kids alone but because of the coronavirus that has been going on. I want to share with you all how I’m preparing to travel with my kids while this coronavirus is in effect. I have been following along since the outbreak in China. Just seeing how fast it got around and has made its way into the United States has been heartbreaking. But this further confirms how we need to take our health and hygiene seriously especially when coming in contact with people.
Ever since my kids were born, I’ve become a little bit OCD. I use my Clorox With Bleach spray and Lysol wipes faithfully. I can’t stand when our house is a mess and I try to clean and disinfect as much as possible. Like I try not to play around when it comes to our hygiene. Their little immune systems are still developing so I try to keep things free of germs and avoid them getting sick (even though they’re exposed to other kids at school and they get sick that way #sadface) With this upcoming trip, I already feel my OCD kicking so I am mentally and physically preparing as much as I can to keep my babies protected while traveling. Here are a few ways:
Shop all of my household products here!
- I will have PLENTY of Lysol Disinfected Wipes, Wet One’s Wipes, Travel Size Disinfected Spray and Hand Sanitizer on DECK!! So I went to Wal-Mart this past weekend and the shelves were pretty much empty, y’all! I couldn’t get everything that I needed but luckily I had everything at home so I didn’t panic. Thank goodness I keep those products handy at home because I would’ve been out of luck lol. To be on the safe side, I went to stack up on those supplies for extra precaution because of the coronavirus. I’ll keep checking or go to Target or H-E-B to get stack up.
- I will make sure to wipe and spray down our seats before sitting down when we get on the airplane. Out of all of the times, I’ve flown, I’ve never seen the attendants wipe or spray down the seats during layovers/transfers. Since we will have a layover and just to be on the safe side when we first board, I want to make sure that our seats are germ-free before sitting down.
- I will make sure to definitely use toilet covers and our baby changing pad as usual!! Now, this is something that I do regardless BUT in this case, it is a MUST. Before I put the changing pad back in my diaper bag, it is going to get a thorough wipe and spray down before going back in the bag! I ain’t playing around LOL!
- I’m going to keep my kids super close to me and away from crowds and off of the floors. Whenever there are big crowds around, I keep my kids very close. My anxiety is bad when it comes to my babies so I keep them super close when we’re out in public. My baby boy is older now and likes to run around. He is super fast too so I purchased a Backpack Harness for him. This will help to keep him by me when we’re walking around. If the crowd is insane, then I’m going to hold him point-blank. But when the crowd does calm down and he needs to run off some energy, I can keep him in close proximity with his backpack. My kids know how I feel about the dirty floors so they know not to touch, sit or crawl around on it.
- I will be on the lookout for people coughing, sneezing or trying to touch us. I’ve shared how people love to touch on my kids. They’ll rub their cheeks or lay hands on their heads. I understand they’re being friendly but personally, I don’t like it especially when I don’t know where your hands have been prior. It’s just a motherly instinct that I have and I don’t feel bad about it. If I want to hold someone’s baby, I always wash my hands and NEVER kiss on them. As a mom, I understand babies are sensitive to certain things and want to protect them at all costs. I wish more people were like that.
I’m telling you the list will go on and on but just know that I will be on high alert. Even though our trip was booked months prior to the coronavirus outbreak, I trust that God has us covered. I trust that He will keep us protected and get us to and from our destination safely. There are people traveling every day and are being careful I’m sure. That means that I will do my part to ensure that my babies and I are protected and remain germ-free. I care too much about our well-being especially theirs so I will do all that I can to be certain of that. My heart and prayers go out to those or who have loved ones affected by the coronavirus. I’m praying that it will be gone in the name of Jesus! If you have any tips, feel free to share! Do you have any travels coming up? How are you preparing for it?!
