Hey, yall! So as you all know Apple dropped a new update on us iPhone users and let me tell you, this new iOS 14 iPhone Homescreen setup is so bomb. Today, I want to tell and show you all about the new iOS 14 home screen and hopefully, it will inspire you to customize yours as well! I was on twitter the other day and saw a young lady talking about it and sharing how she customized hers and I was like OMG that is beautiful! So of course, I was curious and had to try it out myself. I guess my software update wasn’t automatically updated since I forget to connect my phone sometimes, so I had to manually update it myself.
As I am telling you all about mine, I am going to guide you as well. So the first thing you have to do is update your iPhone. Head to your Settings -> General -> Software Update and update that bad baby. My update took about 45 minutes. Don’t ask why it took so long because I don’t know why either. Once it’s done, you’ll have to agree to all of the settings like Do you allow this or that and make your selections. Now as far as the customizations go, it may seem like a tedious process but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be good to go. There so many tutorial videos that you can watch and learn from. I will link them HERE, HERE, and HERE!
The goal for my home screen with this new update is to simply have constant reminders and affirmations that I can see and recite daily to keep me inspired. I’ve seen so many people have inspiration quotes or pictures on theirs and I absolutely love the aesthetics of it. Also, I want to have apps that I use frequently on my phone in the front for easy access. There’s nothing worse than having to swipe to get to the important apps so I love that I am able to have them in on the front page. As I mentioned before, the setting up process kind of tedious. You literally have to figure out how you want your aesthetics to look on your phone. I haven’t gotten to the point where I know what I want just yet, but if you all would like an update when I do, let me know! All in all, You have to customize it to your liking by using certain apps to give you that extra touch. This process can take a long time. So a few tips that I have for you today is:
- Have a plan as to how you want to design your home screen. At this point, the options are limitless. There are so many ways to customize and design so I highly suggest watching a tutorial and following along with it. A few apps that you will need for the customization piece of this setup are WidgetSmith and/or Color Widget. With these widgets, you’re able to customize the widgets, fonts, backgrounds and so much more. I’m telling you the options are limitless but you have to figure out what will work for you and your style.
- Set aside time to get it all together. I’m telling you it’s going to take some time to move apps around, to download this and that, and customize it to your liking. So you’re going to want to set time aside to focus on curating your home screen how you would like. If you’re not that big on making it super fancy and cute, then it won’t take up too much of your time. I think it’s cool that they’re so many cool features on here that will probably make your phone super cool and easy to navigate moving forward.
- Speaking of new features, there are a ton of new features outside of the new home screen shindig that is worth sharing. When you go to update your phone, you will see a LIST of new features that you’re going to get with the new iOS 14 update. You can check out the list of new features by clicking the link HERE.
As long as I have been with Apple (12 years omg), this update has to be my top favorite. I love the versatility of being able to customize my iPhone to my liking. This has me excited for the iPhone 12 that will be launching soon. I made the mistake of not waiting for the iPhone 11 and settled for the iPhone Xs. It’s an okay phone but I know for a fact it doesn’t have anything on the iPhone 11 and from what I’m hearing about the iPhone12, it’s the same thing but better. So I thought I would share with you all about the cool new iOS 14 update that everyone is talking about! I hope that these few tips were helping and get you on your way to customizing your iPhone to your liking! Have you started customizing your iPhone yet? How did you set yours up? Did it take you a long time to do so?
