Shop The Rare Beauty Products I Bought For My Skin Tone
Hey, y’all! So I’m sure you have been hearing or seeing a lot about Rare Beauty, the new makeup line by Selena Gomez. I want to give you my honest review on it especially for my dark skin and melanin honeys who are interested or curious if it is worth it. While I was out during my Self-Care Saturday two weeks ago, I went to Sephora to pick up a few items but ended up seeing the display for Rare Beauty. Of course, y’all know I’m nosy and wanted to see what the collection was all about and see all of the products that were apart of it.
For safety and hygienic purposes, they didn’t have the display products out so I had to do my best to guess what would be the best color shades for me. The Sephora rep was nice enough to use her system to help me pick out the best colors for the foundation and concealer.

Before I bought the products, here are a few things that I had heard about the collection. I heard that foundation was very lightweight but the coverage was really good. Also, it doesn’t contain any toxins or ingredients that are harmful to your skin. So the only way to see how effective it was, was to buy and try it. Let me tell you, I am very pleased with the products I bought. Let’s talk about the pros and cons.
I love the packaging. I love how minimal and simple the packaging is. If you know me, you know that I am such a minimalist when it comes to my makeup, even the packaging lol. As a mom, I don’t have the time to do a full-on beat face every day because my kids won’t give me the time to do so LOL! Plus since I live in such a hot climate area, wearing a ton of makeup is not a smart item. That probably didn’t make any sense but I say all of that to say from a minimalist’s perspective, the packaging is gorgeous.
I love how there are so many shades to match all skin tones. I think this is very important because when there is a limited supply of foundation shades but there are SO many skin tones out here, I don’t see why companies refuse to be accomodating to that. So I love that Selena made sure to incorporate that into her Rare Beauty collection. The shade I got was 530N and it matches so well on my skin. It doesn’t have a red undertone (which I can’t stand) and it doesn’t make me look ashy. Yes, there are foundations out there that will do that so STAY AWAY from them. If you’ll like me to do a post on that, let me know!
It actually is lightweight and gives great coverage! As I mentioned, I live in a hot climate so when it comes to wearing foundation, I am very particular about the foundation I wear. It cannot be cakey or super thick because as soon as I start sweating lawd it is not a good feeling or a good look. So I love the fact that it feels so light when I put it on and the coverage is so so good.
I’ve mentioned this before but I have a burnt mark on my forehead from my curl wand years ago. So if the foundation can cover it without me having to add so many layers, that’s some good foundation. This foundation definitely passes that test.
So far, I don’t have any complaints about the Rare Beauty products that I have. Well, the price lol. They do range between $16-$40 so it isn’t that bad but when that total pops up, you will probably start to make life decisions LOL! I kid. Another thing to note, I bought the matte lipstick HERE. To me, it doesn’t matte up as soon as you apply it. With most matte lipsticks, they dry up as soon as you apply it. But that wasn’t the case for this for some reason. But I will keep trying it since it is a fall color that I love and I’ll keep y’all posted about it.
It is definitely the perfect makeup for minimalist or those who are into simple makeup. I think that is why I was curious to see what it was all about and I can honestly say (this isn’t sponsored I promise lol) that Rare Beauty has a great collection of products that are actually pretty good. I do plan to get more products like bronzer and highlighter. I wanted to try out to main products first before buying the others. So if y’all would like another review on the others, let me know and I can do that for you. Have you tried Rare Beauty? Let me know what you honestly think and your favorite products from the collection!
