Hey, yall heyyy! I hope you’re staying and safe and sanitized out here. I’m seriously praying for this be over and praying for the health and safety of people daily. Today, I want to share my Work From Home Mom Routine During this Quarantine period. It’s crazy how over 3 weeks ago, I was constantly on the go, dropping my kids off to school, going to the coffee shop to do work, running all over to their extracurricular activities. Now, school is out until May, and they are home with me all day. Also, I have to add a homeschool teacher back to my resume. I thought I would share my “new normal” routine with y’all in case any moms need ideas or inspiration on how to form a routine.
This work from home mom routine during quarantine has helped me from being overwhelmed and driving myself crazy. With two hyperactive kids, trying to keep my house clean and in order, while trying to incorporate self-care has been an adjustment, to say the least. But with a schedule and routine in place, my kids are adjusting and it has made this process somewhat easier. Every day isn’t the same but for the most part, this is how it goes!
7:00am-7:30am I wake up before the kids. I used to wake up earlier than that but I have to advantage of getting extra sleepy okay?! LOL. It’s nice not having to wake at 5:30, rush to do my morning business, get the kids ready for school and all that jazz. This moment has taught me to slow down and really enjoy the moment so that’s what I’ve been doing. Also, I do not get on social media before 9am. That is a goal that I have set for myself and I’m proud that I have been sticking with it.
7:30am-8:15am I handle my bathroom duties, go outside or in my office and read my bible, devotions and meditate. I told y’all I can’t start my day without God so being at home doesn’t change that. If I don’t, whew I don’t know how I would make it through the day LOL. Now that it is hot here in Texas, I’ve started going outside in the mornings to get fresh air and to meditate. Since we’re stuck in the house all day, it is important for us to get fresh air. I like to start doing so in the morning and in the evenings when we go on our family walks.
8:30am-9:15am Check my emails, business things and finish up anything I need to before the kids wake up. If the kids are still asleep, I like to have a moment to take care of business things so I can focus in peace. One thing I am working on is being more present with my family. When you run a business by yourself, you wear so many hats and it gets overwhelming at times. Sometimes, you get caught up in the work needed to be done and it takes up a lot of time. With this crisis going on, it has really shown me that being present and enjoying these moments are more important. But being able to schedule in time to get things done has worked out for me.
9:30am-10:15am Get the kids cleaned and dressed, feed them breakfast and FaceTime with their Grandparents. By this time, the kids are up and the craziness begins LOL! I kid but at this point, my focus is on them and getting them prepared for the day ahead. Since their Grandparents are stuck inside as well, My big girl likes to FaceTime them before starting her day. Sometimes, they’ll watch her read and do her schoolwork, which is so sweet.
10:30am-Noon Time For Homeschool. When we first started homeschooling, I printed out worksheets pertaining to Reading and Math. To challenge her, I printed out educational things that were on a First-grade level. She is so advanced and smart so it makes me happy that she enjoys learning on a higher level and just homeschool with me in general. Now, her teacher has provided work for their class that she monitors on her end so that it what we are doing now. She has 2 different types of software that she works from daily and it’s so much fun. I’m sure they are Texas programs systems but if you are looking for a few educational systems to use, let me know and I’ll send them your way!
While she is doing certain lessons on her own, I incorporate lessons with my baby boy. His attention span has its moments so I try to get at least 30 minutes of his time educating him with these learning rolls that my mom got us from. I will link it HERE if you would like to know. I think it’s perfect for him and has helped him until he’s over it LOL!
12:30-1:30pm: Lunch and playtime. Although I want to school my kids for as long as possible, I understand that they need a break and they have to eat of course. Around this time, I give them lunch and then we go outside to play in the backyard. It actually works out that way because it’s pretty warm around that time. By the time they’re done playing, they are ready to lay down and take a nap #PraiseTheLAWD
1:30pm-3:00pm It’s nap time and time for me time! My baby boy is super tired and exhausted around this time. He pulls me to the room and is ready to be out. I nurse him to sleep and then it’s time to have a moment to myself. Maddie is tired too but her friend from next door usually comes over around that time so they play with each other for a bit. As for me, I am catching up on work, creating content, responding to messages on social and enjoying time by myself.
Once Baby Boy is up, the day is pretty much gone and the evening is upon us. Our evenings are pretty different every day when The Big Guy comes from work. We usually eat dinner first, then we will go for a walk, exercise, or play outside. Or we will either clean up, declutter things or whatever. Like I said the evenings are somewhat different every day but our mornings are pretty much like clockwork.
I hope that this work from home mom routine during quarantine was helpful and inspiring. As stated, I wanted to share it because having a routine in place has helped to make this new normal less stressful and less overwhelming. I don’t know about y’all but chaos and inconsistency drive me crazy! I am learning to prioritize and schedule things accordingly. That has helped to reduce the stress that comes from being a Stay At Home Mom. Like I said, every day isn’t perfect or the same. But with this routine in place, it has made this new normal easier to take on.
Do you have a schedule or routine in place? Let me know how it is working out for you! 🙂
